FAQ’s

If you don’t see an answer to your question(s) here, please contact us –  we love nothing more than talking about training!

What kid of shape do I need to be in to start training?

Just bring yourself as you are to the training table.  New to fitness in general? – no problem.  Cranking out marathons? – that’s great too.  Your starting point is just that – yours!  We work with your specific starting point and go from there.

How long is the normal training program?

Our programs are based on a minimum of 12 weeks because in order to create a systematic training stimulus and progression that produces adaptations in your fitness.  Yes – this gets into the exercise science of sports but that’s where a coach is helpful!  Please note that for a full Iironman, we require a 6 month monthly coaching plan.

Why do I need to sign up for a 6-month Ironman program and not less?

Ironman training is a different animal and one of the biggest demands, in terms of training time, a triathlete pursues. Most athletes tackling an Ironman are not pros and need this amount of time to prepare.  If you are a season Ironman athlete with multiple years of consistent training,  we can discuss a specific approach that may meet your needs.

Why is a custom program better than a prefabbed plan?

We don’t offer canned plans because our philosophy is not a one-size-fits all approach.  We believe you can achieve your best by working within your fitness parameters – not someone elses.  Are there good basic plans available online? – of course- but customization allows you to get actual coaching for you.

Why isn't there a set-up fee?

Unlike many coaching services, we do not charge a set up fee because getting to know you and understand your goals, level of fitness and life demands is part of our job- simple.

What if I get injured?

If you get injured, please consult your physician to determine what type of training you can do if at all.  We never encourage training through an injury and if you do have a significant problem, we ask for a medical release when you are ready to return.  We will place your monthly plan on hold until you can resume and you will be prorated for the month the injury occurred.  If you purchased a Race Ready custom plan, there are no refunds because the entire race plan has been provided and you may use this for a subsequent race.

How do I access Training Peaks?

We will send you a link for your Training Peaks account – pretty simple.  You can easily connect a range of satellite devices to upload your data.

What kind of equipment do I need?

That depends on your budget.  You can run up a pretty significant tab for all sorts of fancy, uber-cool gear.  Do you need this to start? – no not at all. In fact one of your coaches started off with a borrowed steel bike, baskets for pedals, one bathing suit, goggles and a pair of running shoes.  Simply your stuff and just get training – but of course the basics are a bike, helmet, shoes, and bathing suit and/or wetsuit.  We are here to help you with this as part of our coaching serives – plus we love to shop for gear!

What is the difference between custom monthly and custom specific race training?

The custom monthly training offers unlimited contact with your coach and modifications can be made based.  It is also ongoing and can include training for multiple races, events, and goals.  The custom race ready plans are also customized for you and your fitness, but they are for a specific race/event/goal and do not include modifications or contact with the coach.

How long does it take before I can start training?

Generally it takes about a week or two to get the training program up and running.

Will you work with and around my daily life and work schedule?

Yes of course- that’s our specialty. We are skilled at multi-tasking and totally get the need to weave in daily life.  Training is not supposed to be an additional stress- just the opposite and it’s our job to make it fun!

I began competing in triathlons in 2008 and loved the sport and the cross training features. Due to my lack of swimming talent, I only entered sprint triathlons. Early in 2015, I decided that I would like to do an olympic distance triathlon and consulted with Christine Silcox of Cadence Multisport to train me.  Christine met with me and asked many questions about my goals and objectives. I appreciated that she truly listened to my personal goals and needs. She…read more

"Christine coached me through my first rides, continuously supporting me with directions on technique and how to approach my fear of the road.  Each ride Christine takes me to the next level as a cyclist and an overall athlete.  She has helped me gain an understanding of how to handle my bike on busy roads, up tough hills, and down steep hills, as well as helped me with nutrition to maintain my stamina. “I have had the opportunity to work with Christine coaching several triathletes on our triathlon team. I have also been a participant in her workouts. Christine provides the group workout of the day in a clear, concise manner, and gives a good explanation of why. She then motivates the group during the workout, spending time with each individual. Christine specifically coached 4 of our triathletes this past summer to prepare for their first half, the Vineman 70.3. The individual programs…read more
